We bought a Liza crib in cognac as well as Max change table last year for a local dealer. I wanted a sleigh style crib in a cherry or similar wood, and this seemed to fit the bill. We paid around $480 for the crib, which I thought was pretty well priced. Alot of those at BRU were in this price range if not more. I love that this crib can be turned into a toddler bed with the additional railing. We already have a spare full size bed, so we weren't interested in a convertible crib. The crib has a drawer underneath, which is handy for storing sheets, etc. I keep a piece of cloth over the items in the drawer just to keep out dust. I have absolutely no complaints. Our mattress in the crib is pretty snug, so it's hard to get the side up and down because of the matress, so I don't bother with putting the side up and down. I have no complaints either about the changing table, except the price. I paid $218 - which I felt was a bit pricey for a changing table, but I couldn't find anything else in a comparable finish. Both seem to be solid, well-made pieces of furniture.

We ordered a Pali Sabrina crib in Hazelnut in July 2003. It arrived in a timely fashion and my husband set it up in our baby's nursery. The assembly instructions are a bit difficult to understand, but my not-so-handy husband was still able to put it together in a few hours. For many months, our crib performed beautifully. Then in August 2003, I noticed that one of the slats in the headboard had bowed considerably, leaving a gap that was larger than I was comfortable with. I immediately tried to contact Pali's customer service. First, their customer service number is hard to find. I searched online and looked at the instructions and found nothing. I finally called the store where we bought it and they gave me the "parts" phone number. This is also the number for customer service.I called and left a message and my call was never returned. I kept trying from time to time with the same result--NOTHING. Finally, one week I decided to call EVERY DAY and leave a message. I got a call back by the third day. I guess they were sick of getting my messages.I described my problem and Coletta, the lone CS rep, instructed me to email pictures to her. I did it that afternoon. She promised to call me back. Given our conversation about the problem, I was under the assumption that she was going to send me a new headboard. Months went by and there was no phone call and no headboard. After many tries, I finally got through to her again and of course she didn't remember me. She told me to email the pictures again. When I inquired about getting a new headboard, she told me she would have never said such a thing, that the design had changed, blah blah blah. I kept on her and kept calling to see if we could reach some sort of resolution. In May of 2005, she told me she would keep looking for a headboard for me, but she was going on vacation and that she would call me when she returned. That was three months ago. I've given up; it's been one year after this whole fiasco began and I'm obviously not getting anywhere. While I understand that substandard wood on my crib is not exactly Pali's fault, Coletta has done nothing to ensure that it be fixed and that I remain a happy customer. On the whole, Pali cribs are lovely and well made. But if something should go wrong, you basically have no recourse. I will never recommend a Pali crib to anyone for this very reason.

Pros:
Beautiful, sturdy quality.
Cons:
Pricey, but worth it.

We bought the Forever Rosalia convertible crib and 4000 series nightstand and double dresser in 2005. The furniture is incredibly well made and is just beautiful. We have had absolutely no problems with it, and we loved the stationary side (no fussing or noise getting baby in and out). When DS turned 2, we converted the crib to a full size bed, and we still love the way it looks. It was a little pricey, but I would rather pay a little more for furniture that is good quality and will last a lifetime. It was much less expensive than buying a crib and a full size bed, and this furniture should be the only bedroom furniture we ever have to buy for our son.We are currently looking for DC#2, and we will probably buy Pali again.

I ordered Pali furniture from Buy Buy Baby on November 14th 2006. It is now April 19, 2007 - and I am still waiting for Pali to manufacture and deliver the furniture to Buy Buy Baby after 5 months. Pali quotes that it'll take 2 months on average to do this. Needless to say our baby arrived to an empty room despite us ordering from what we thought was a reputable company, with 5 months to go before the birth. When Buy Buy Baby was able to get Pail to actually call them back, here are the variety of excuses I was told- The legs that were made for all pieces of my furniture (crib, changing table, chest of drawers) were stained the wrong color. This resulted in having to go back to Italy to have the feet remade and redelivered- The furniture is held up in Canada due to a snowstorm. That was 3 weeks ago and counting. I didn't know it snowed in Canada continuously for 3 weeks.Luckily Buy Buy Baby came through with somewhat similiar temporary furniture that will be replaced one day by the real thing - but only after I floated the cash for this set.

Pros:
Everything except the 2 cons. :)
Cons:
Price & Crib's drop-side makes loud click when locks
|
|
We have used two different Pali cribs for DD. First, we had a Pali Carmen in cinnamon as a loaner crib (because the store we ordered the furniture screwed up -- don't shop at My Child's Room). It's a very nice convertible crib with stationary sides and rock solid constuction. The design is simple, but it looked beautiful in our nursery for a couple of months. We had no real problems with the Carmen, and I recommend it to anyone looking for a stationary side crib. We never wanted the stationary sides, however. Because I am only 5'3", I found it impossible to gently lay DD in her crib after she had fallen asleep. The side hit me in the rib cage, so I had to stand on my toes and then bend over, which created a bit of a shaky decent into the crib for DD. 9 times out of 10 she woke up whenever I tried to lay her down. DH at 5'8" never had any of these problems though. Finally, we got our own crib, the Juliana, which is a sleigh-style crib with a drop-side. There is also a storage drawer beneath, which has been great for our limited space. (Dust can collect in the drawer, so I have put the blankets and such in zippered storage bags to protect them a bit. It works well.) It was a bit pricey (I believe it was regularly priced at around $700), but we got a bunch of discounts by buying it as part of a set with the changer and hutch (as well as discounts for the store's screw-ups) and managed to pay around $500 for it in the end. Because the crib can be converted into a full-sized bed someday, we thought it was important to consider the look of the headboard, as well as the overall look of the crib. We really loved the way this headboard had more curve to it. Most of the cribs we looked at seemed to just be flatter across the back, which work well as a crib, but we thought would look a little strange as a full-sized bed in later years. The drop-side on this crib conforms with what one would expect: knee-push, hidden hardware, and a smooth, quiet glide. What I was surprised to discover once we began using the crib though was just how loudly the locks clicked when securing the side into the upright position. We tried everything we could think of to quietly lock the side into place, and finally were able to slowly slide things into place with a quieter click, but it was still VERY noticeable and startled DD every time. Now that DD's older and we put her to bed when she's still awake, the clicking doesn't bother her anymore (thankfully). In general, I still like the drop-side better. I've heard that many people believe that drop-side cribs are less sturdy. That's not true in this case. The Juliana is unshakeable. Maybe that's because Pali cribs aren't mass produced. They're actually each hand-made in Italy, which undoubtedly adds to the quality. What I like best about the drop-side though, is that even with bumper pads attached, the side is low enough for me to bend over and fairly comfortably lay DD down to sleep. Whenever DD has a fit while trying to fall asleep in her crib, I like to lean over and lay my head next to hers and snuggle with her a bit. With the stationary side crib, I had to lift myself off the ground and all my weight went into my stomach as it hung over the side. With the drop side, I can stand on the ground, and arch my back up a bit to keep the side from poking into my stomach very much. It's been SO much nicer. As mentioned in the title above, we also have a 4000 Series combination dresser/changer. I believe it cost us about $550, but it's hard to say because it was part of a package deal. Its design matches the curvy crib design beautifully, which really adds a nice touch to the room. We love how the drawers that slide out so smoothly and quietly. I can usually put DD"s laundry away without disturbing her. There is also a surprising amount of space in the drawers. I've managed to squeeze most of DD's large wardrobe into just those 3 drawers, and still had space left over for her sheets and mattress pads.We also got the 9000 series hutch to put on top of the changer. I think we paid about $450 for it. I love the simple design and the way it adds to the look of the changer. The 4000 series hutch incorporated all the nice curves that I've been talking about, but it seemed a to be too much. The 9000 series had nice clean edges and just seemed better suited to the changer. The other advantage of the 9000 series hutch is that the bottom shelf folds up so that you have more room to change baby's diapers. This was VERY important to us because we use the changer exclusively for changing DD's diapers. If the shelf were always down, I'm sure we'd be bumping DD's head a lot.All in all, we've been very happy with our Pali furniture (once we finally got it) and recommend it highly to others.
