Pros:
Crib is beautiful!
Cons:
Cherry "stain" chips.
|
|
I have two pieces of the Newport line in cherry- the crib and combo dresser. I purchased Munire Furniture based on the Baby Bargains recommendation. First, let me say that I am very happy with the crib. It is well made and beautifully designed. However, the dresser really makes me wonder what Denise and Alan were thinking! I’ve had this furniture since June. Almost immediate, the cherry “stain on the dresser began chipping at the edge. My husband and I have to be extra careful when changing our daughter, because we’re afraid if we touch the edge of the dresser, the stain will peel of even further. The drawers are shaky and just don’t feel well made at all. I planned on adding the hutch to our nursery when our daughter was 6 months old – but now that she is, I am hesitating. Do I really want to pay an additional $400 for furniture that may disappoint me again!? In the meantime, I am stuck searching for shelves that will match. I am frustrated and kicking myself for spending the money on this dresser! If I could do it again, I'd go with Natart or Stanley.

Pros:
Quality product for a reasonable price
Cons:
Took 8 - 9 weeks

Great looking furniture, we got the Savanah collection. We are very happy with it, we read the reviews on the site and talked to munire furniture, it seems like they had a production shift and that caused a delay, but now they are back on track and we also noticed that some of the complaints we more directed toward retailers not munire furniture. Anyway, great looking furniture, hand carved details...just wanted to share.

We ordered the Essex crib and dresser in cherry from the USA Baby in Norcross, GA. We were told it would take 10-12 weeks, and it was in at about 10 weeks. The furniture is gorgeous and the crib was very easy to put together. The cost was extremely reasonable for solid hardwood (though I believe they told us the back of the dresser is mdf). I wouldn't hesitate to recommend these products to anyone.

Pros:
Beautiful, well made, quality
Cons:
difficult to tie bumpers on
|
|
We got a Munire crib, dresser and night table in "Majestic". I LOVE the look of it and even how it feels. It is a solid piece and made of very high quality. We got the conversion kit and I am sure it will be durable enough to last until we send the little guy off to college. When we ordered the set, we were told 10-12 weeks and recieved our order in 6. I am very pleased with this furniture. The only drawback is trying to tie the bumper pad on this particular set because the "front" is lower, the slats don't go up as high as the bumper pad. But... you aren't supposed to use bumpers anyway? Right?

Pros:
Underbed drawer, convertability, spring mattress support
Cons:
Noisy drop side, delivery issue, quality issue

Purchased: Munire Sophia (sight unseen from a catalog in the store - crib is not even on Munire's website).
Cost with tax: Approximately $600.
Other cribs considered: Berg Maggie from USA Baby.
Color of visible hardware (if a concern): Gold-tone.Though not an issue specific to Munire, we were told our crib would arrive in 8-10 weeks. It arrived in 12. I realize this is not solely Munire's fault, but the store, as well. The Sophia crib has much less substance than, say, Munire's Majestic crib, which is fine because the crib is still sturdy. It looks closest to the Munire Marina in style and substance. I had read and been told that all Munire furniture was solid wood. That was a selling point for us because we wanted solid wood, an underbed drawer and something convertible so the crib would grow with our child. Upon assembly of the crib, we noticed a chip in the side panel that clearly shows this particular crib (or at least the side panel) is made from pressed wood - albeit a "very good pressed," says my husband.I am rating this a B- because for the price we paid, the crib should have been solid wood, as they say their products are. Make no mistake, though, the crib is beautiful and it will last for a long time. But, in this instance, you do not necessarily get what you pay for.
