Majestic Crib terrible purchase, November 15, 2009

Pros: looks nice
Cons: wood is too soft and turning the crib into a bed is terrible

bought a mattress to turn my son's Majestic crib into a bed. Whoever designed this bed was an idiot. The rails that the mattress sits on makes the bed so high that my son can not get into it and the bed skirt is over 5 inches off the floor. That mattress comes to the top of the footboard and the headboard is completely taken up by the mattress, it looks like a hospital bed. It is actually higher than our mattress on our king poster bed. I am so dissapointed in this company. Do not buy from them. I would have rather bought Ikea furniture.

Very pleased with this furniture, August 15, 2006

Pros: Solid sturdy construction
Cons: uneven finish on hutch backing, hutch shelves/back are MDF

We purchased the Munire Newport crib, combo dresser, combo hutch, bed rails and nightstand in black for about $2000(pre-tax) from Baby's 1st Furniture in Houston, TX. We were drawn to the convertible crib feature in hopes it will last this child through his teen years. The dresser, hutch and crib arrived in about a 6 weeks. The nightstand took about 12 weeks which is what we were told to expect in the first place.

We are very pleased with the quality. The crib is solid and my DH assembled it himself w/out any problems. The combo hutch and nightstand drawers all open and close easily, though are a bit on the loud side when they close, so I added felt pads to keep them from "banging" shut.

Now about the hutch shelves and backing - these parts are not wood. The shelves appear to be a very high qulaity MDF, but the backing on my hutch is really crappy. The finish is uneven and looks dirty or like it has wax or something on it. It is the only part of this furniture that I am disappointed with. I gave it an A- fot that reason.

That said we have moved twice since we purcahsed it and it has held up very well. It even took the move from high humidity climate to extremely dry climate without cracking or warping which I have seen happen here to other so called "high quality" furniture. Overall we are very happy with this furntirue and hope it lasts at least 20 years.

Absolutely love it, completely worth the wait, October 8, 2009

Pros: Beautiful, quality furniture that will last!
Cons: Trying to change the height of the crib bed and the long shipping times

I was nervous when I first ordered this furniture because it was going to take 10 weeks to get and what if something was wrong with it? Let me tell you though, it was well worth the wait!

We got the Newport set in Chestnut and it is absolutely beautiful. I love most everything about it. It is pricey and has a long shipping time, but as long as you plan ahead of time then there should not be any problems.

Ours took exactly 10 weeks to arrive and then it was delivered to our house where the store owners set it up. I was disappointed that I couldn't get it from a regular baby store but still worth the effort to drive to find a store.

My only complaint was that it was slighly difficult to lower the crib bed to the lowest position. You have to tigthen the screws with your hands but it is right up against the rails which makes it very difficult. It is also hard to attach a mobile as the crib is very thick.

But I love it and would highly recommend this brand to everyone!

Very Pleased with Munire Newport in Espresso, February 22, 2009

Pros: Beautiful, well-made furniture
Cons: took 8 full weeks for furniture to arrive

I am 100% pleased with my Munire Newport crib, 6-drawer dresser and mirror in Espresso! The furniture is beautiful and well-made.

Right after I ordered my Munire furniture in November 2008, I came across the reviews on this board. I was surprised by all the complaints, given the high rating in Baby Bargains book. I spent the next 8 weeks worried sick that my furniture was going to come in flawed and that I had wasted a ton of money.

Not so. The furniture is beautiful and without any noticeable flaws. My nursery looks exactly the way I had imagined, and I very pleased!

If I was stretching to find things to complain about, I suppose it did take the maximum time estimate for the furniture to arrive (8 weeks). Also, there was 1 tiny, small scratch on the dresser. It was hardly perceptible. I only noticed it because I was looking for problems, given all the complaints posted on this board. I have no doubt I can easily fix it with one of those touch up pens you get at hardware stores.

For those who love this style and price-point, don't be afraid to purchase Munire based on comments on this board. And don't worry if you already have purchased it.

Very expensive, poor quality, January 8, 2009

Pros: Stylish
Cons: Cheap construction, poor quality wood

This is for the majestic line. The dresser, crib, and nightstand looks good far away, but close up the details are shoddy, and the craftmanship is extremely cheap. The dresser top was partical board and bubbled when it got wet. For the price, this is totally not worth it.
