Pros:
The initial shipment arrived in about a week. The pieces looked attractive and intact.
Cons:
They're not delivering all of the parts. Now I can't even get through to them on the phone.

After reading some of the other Child Craft complaints, I realize that my own issue seems mild... the initial crib shipment arrived promptly, about a week after placing the order. However, two of the pieces didn't fit together. I called customer service, and they rushed me a replacement of one of the pieces, which arrived less than a week later. So far, so good. But this piece didn't fit either. To avoid being sent another wrong piece, I asked to talk to someone on the floor or someone familiar with the construction so that we could discuss the dimensions of the crib over the phone. This couldn't be done; I was directed into a "supervisors'" voicemail and never heard anything back. So I swallowed my pride and asked the customer service lady to do what she had first suggested, to send me yet another replacement part. This will take approximately three weeks, and there is no promise that the next replacement part will work... so I called Friday the 24th and today (the 27th) to see about a refund. (When your baby is due any day, you don't want to mess around! You just want your darn crib.) Mysteriously, I haven't been able to get a human being to answer. The phone just rings and rings. Is the company folding? Now that I've seen that CA is suing Child Craft for including formaldehyde in their cribs-- and that their website appears to have expired-- I'm wondering if they've been having trouble for awhile.Bottom line: don't order anything from these guys, you might never see your product... or maybe just pieces of it.

Pros:
The price was cheap...but you get what you pay for!
Cons:
Very damaged item, and the replacement piece was even MORE damaged!

On December 17th, 2007 we placed the order for the Legacy double dresser Model #F08809.12 in white (made by ChildCraft). There was confusion as if to this piece was being made or not and if they had the item in stock or not. So for starters just figuring out the stock of the item from ChildCraft was confusing enough. The dresser was finally delivered to our home on April 22, 2008 but to our great surprise it was significantly damaged. All the seams around the drawers had cracks in them. Because the item is white the cracking was even more evident. Via the store we bought the item from in Tampa, ChildCraft agreed to send a replacement. This represented more months of great inconvenience for us. When the new piece was finally delivered on June 18, 2008 it was even MORE damaged than the first dresser! The dresser’s legs were significantly splintered which impacted on the stability of the dresser. Moreover, the seams were again visibly damaged and the white tint of the core of the dresser did not match the white tint of the drawers (one was white, the other creamier)! I sent a letter and pictures of these problems to Childcraft and on July 2nd got a response back from George Daleo, VP of Sales. The letter had an essentially "oh well" tone and suggested we work something out with the store we bought the item from. They completely washed themselves for the poor craftsmanship of the item as follows: "Some of the problem was in the way the piece was handled, probably in transit. From the pictures that you sent, it appears that the piece could have been dropped, causing the crack in the frame around the drawers. .. Once the frame has been compromised, the paint will not cover the problem. I can assure you that the piece did not leave New Salisbury that way. " So in essence they seem to have washed themselves of any responsibility even though both the original delivery and the replacement were both very damaged. So beware...the price may seem attractive but the poor customer service, poor craftsmanship of the construction really were bad and outdid the little positive of the price.

We bought the Legacy Bergen County Lifetime Crib in Cherry Pine and the matching dressing station (without hutch). We paid $449 for the crib, $499 for the dressing station, and paid $65 for delivery AND SET UP! After visiting BRU and spending lots of time online looking at cribs and baby furniture, I took a trip to a locally-owned, mom-and-pop kids' furniture store about 35 miles away. They had an amazing display in their showroom. I looked at Baby Dream, Pali, Bassett, and Legacy furniture. I expected to go with a Baby Dream set, but after seeing the Legacy pieces in the store I was really impressed. The Cherry finish is absolutely beautiful and the pieces were so solid. I loved that there were no moving parts on the crib and I think it will make a beautiful full bed when the time comes to convert. My experience was made infinitely more enjoyable by the service at the store (Kids' World in Utica, NY). The couple who own the place are knowledgeable, caring and accommodating. They had the pieces I wanted in stock and we were able to arrange delivery on the date of my choosing. Not only that, they set up the crib for us, placed the crib and dressing station exactly where we wanted, and helped us move 2 more pieces into the nursery from our daughter's room. I think that my favorable impression of Legacy is certainly colored by how smoothly everything went, thanks to Kids' World. If we had gone with a (slightly) less expensive set from BRU, we would have paid $125 for delivery with no set-up. But, truly, the set is GORGEOUS and I'm thrilled that we chose Legacy.

Pros:
Durability, Ease of use
Cons:

We bought Child Craft's Pine Sleigh Lifetime Bed (36101) two years ago when my daughter was born. We have been really pleased with this crib. -The stationary side of this crib was great. When she was young, the highest mattress setting was more than enough to provide easy access. As she got older, the 2 or 3 additional level settings allowed us to adjust to her changing climbing abilities.-The durability of the construction is amazing. I have no doubt that this crib and it's convertible incarnations will last my daughter until she moves out of the house.

We ordered a Legacy crib and were told 8 to 12 weeks for it to come in. Less than 2 weeks later, we received a call from the store saying that our crib was in. We haven't arranged for delivery yet, but I'm not really reviewing the crib anyway. I'm reviewing the COMPANY.We have a chest of drawers that was my late grandfathers that we are getting refinished to use in the baby's room. I thought that I would contact the company on the off-chance that they could help me find stain to match. Not only did they respond to my e-mail within minutes (yes, minutes), but they have been helpful. (Long story short: I can order the stain from them, but it must be shipped to an authorized dealer because of 9-11.) I e-mailed with more questions today and again, they responded within minutes. They even offered to call me at my convenience so that they could answer my questions and gave me a phone number to call them if I wanted to call them instead.I think the thing that most surprises me is that, rather than trying to sell me a piece of their furniture, they have made it easy for me to get what I want. Most places would have ignored my e-mails or would have been hostile to helping me. I'm really very impressed. Its this kind of customer service that's lacking in many companies.
