Pinehurst Lifestyle Crib is a sturdy crib and excellent quality!, March 19, 2008

Pros: Construction is sturdy and easy to assemble
Cons: Babies R Us is discontinuing the line

After doing our research and armed w/the Baby Bargains book, my husband and I set out looking for a good deal on a quality crib. We found it in the Babi Italia Pinehurst Lifestyle crib sold at Babies R Us. The floor model had been beaten up quite a bit, but we found that it was still pretty sturdy. We loved the Espresso color and they had it in stock, so we bought it. The box was too big to fit into the back of our Murano, so we had to take all of the pieces out of the box and put each into the back of the car. There was plenty of packing material to place in between the pieces so that they wouldn't scratch or move around too much on the ride home. It took us about 2 hours to assemble the crib. Instructions were very straight forward and easy to follow. Once it was put together, there was no doubt that the engineers that designed it knew what they were doing. It doesn't budge when you shake it. It's more sturdy and solid than our own bedroom furniture! The Espresso color is lovely. I attempted to scratch it in a spot not easily visible and found it hard to knick the stain. We easily found a matching Shermag glider. The only downside is that we recently found out that Babies R Us is discontinuing the line . We're going to try to order the conversion peices as soon as possible. If we can't, it doesn't appear to be too difficult to screw a standard full/double-size frame into the head/footboards. And, it appears that those generic plastic toddler rails could easily be adapted to the crib. We're really glad that we were able to buy this piece when we did!!!

Pros: relatively easy to put together, solidly made, packed very well for shipping to prevent damage
Cons: nothing we have found yet

We have a little one coming soon so it has not been baby-tested yet, however we are loving it so far. My hubby and I put it together in 2 hours with no cussing or any problems. It appears very solid and mattress support is good. It came very well packed so even though the box was damaged the wood was not touched. We are using a Moonlight Slumber Supreme mattress and it fits fine. If anything changes as we use it I will comment again.

Pinehurst cribs great but dresser & armoire mediocre, July 7, 2007

Pros: sturdy cribs, nice looking
Cons: problems with cracked panels & drawer doesn't open smoothly

I was surprised to see so much good feedback after our experience with this furniture. We bought this furniture two years ago for our twins, who are now 20 mos old. The cribs were reasonably easy to assemble and have held up well. I like that they're convertible, but you do have to pay additional to get toddler bed rails and the conversion kit for a full-size bed. Our kids made bite marks on the top, which obviously isn't the mfr's fault but something to think about when buying pine baby furniture.

The problems I wanted to highlight were with the dresser & armoire. We exchanged the first dresser we received b/c a door panel had a large crack in it upon delivery. The new one looked fine but has also developed a crack, and the top drawer sticks when closing it. The armoire now has a large crack in one of the door panels too.

This furniture has been used gently and not for long - the twins were in our room (with their clothing in our dresser) until they were 9 mos old. They don't play in their room, so the furniture hasn't been abused by them either.

We bought this so long ago that I've forgotten how much it cost, but we did buy it at Babies R Us. Hope you all have better luck with it than we did!

Pinehurst Tea Stain - Great so far, January 28, 2007

Pros: Looks high end, is stable and drop side is smooth.
Cons: It was a Babies R Us item, but you couldn't order online.

My husband and I just bought the Pinehurst Tea Stain Drop Side two days ago. Although on the Babi Italia site, they say you can find it at Babies R Us, it does not show on their site. We found it in a store....a larger one than our local. The bed was easy to put together, and looks great. Hidden hardware and knee push were important to me along with the crib feeling "sturdy" and I feel this gives me all of that. Baby isn't here yet, but so far, we are VERY pleased.

Bonativa Peyton Lifetime crib - great so far!, March 12, 2008

Pros: Sturdy, well-constructed
Cons: Directions were a bit confusing at first

We bought our Peyton Lifestyle crib at a local furniture store that sent us a coupon for $100 off anything in their store. I had read good reviews of Bonavita and this crib is very nice. Had we not saved the $100, I'm not sure we would have spent the money on it!

However, we picked it up from the store and there wasn't a mark or scratch on it. And assembling it at home was a breeze! There was a bit of confusion with one part of the directions, but overall it was very easy.

(Much simpler than the IKEA dresser I assembled the night before!)

It fits our Colgate mattress perfectly, and we are just waiting until the baby shower to put the bedding in.

I will return with a more accurate review of the crib once we've had a chance to use it.
