Pros:
Good quality for the money, excellent shipping
Cons:
As with any white painted furniture, will probably get scratched & nicked over time.

We just received our Scandi crib and combo dresser this week and LOVE them! My husband and I work in the furniture industry and were so impressed with the quality of their packaging - the best we have ever seen & we see a lot! Ordering through Babies R Us was easy, once we persisted that this series did exist and that they could order it (it's new). It arrived sooner than expected and with not a scratch or dent on it! Dresser arrives assembled and my husband did not have much trouble putting the crib together, but he's good at this type of thing. He did notice two mistakes in the manufacturer's instructions, but was able to figure it out. FYI - don't tighten the screws all the way when installing the dropside side or it will be too tight for it to slide into place. Tighten after you get it on. The crib also has a drawer underneath, which I couldn't tell from the pic/info on Babi Italia's website. The dropside does not operate quite as smoothly or quietly as the Bonavita Peyton we also looked at, but this was the style we wanted. At least not loud like the Morigeau mechanism. Much less expensive than Nurseryworks or Netto, but similar look. The crib was $400 and the combo was $500.

Pros:
hidden hardware, spring mattress support, quiet rail-release
Cons:
??? Nothing I can think of!
|
|
I purchased the Babi Italia Pinehurst Single Crib in Tea Stain in November 2006 from Babies R Us in Houston, TX. I paid $299.99 plus tax (I think it came to about $325). NOTE - This is not the convertible Pinehurst Crib shown on the Babi Italia website. It is a "traditional-style" crib with a single drop side and does not convert to a toddler or full-size bed. It is also not featured on the BRU website, but it's available in the stores.I think this crib is absolutely perfect. It has hidden hardware (something that was lacking on similar-priced models at Target and BRU), a 3-position adjustable mattress, and a spring mattress support. It also comes with casters for the legs, but we left them off as I think it looks nicer without them. It was extremely easy to assemble - DH and I put it together in about 20 minutes (with me being very pregnant and not good with instructions). The crib features a knee-push release on the drop-side, which is very easy to use and is perfectly quiet. We're both pretty tall, so I don't know how often we'll use it, but it's nice to have if we need it. The crib feels very sturdy (no, it's not quite as "solid" feeling as cribs that don't have a drop side, but it still feels quite adequate to hold up to any abuse a baby or toddler could give it).I had worried that the wood would scratch easily, since the crib is made of pine. We had no problems with this during assembly, and I think it should be fine with the baby (we're planning to put teething rails on it).I am absolutely thrilled with this purchase. For someone who is looking for a nice, simple crib, you can't go wrong with the Babi Italia Pinehurst Single Crib!

Pros:
Good quality, reasonable price, doesn't look cheap
Cons:
Nothing that I can say yet.

We just purchased a Bonavita Sheffield 3-drawer dresser and I could not be happier. DH and I both liked this dresser, but did not buy it right away. We checked out other furniture stores and baby stores and were not very happy with the quality for the price. Even BRU was disappointing. So we went back to USA Baby where we originally saw the Bonavita. We bought the floor model and got an extra discount. The salesman mentioned that it came from Asia. BBB had warned that the quality of these were not as good as the ones manufactured in the US. But I saw absolutely no problem with it. The drawers pull out smoothly and the finish seems fine. I like that it is a dresser that can be used for a long time, not just for a baby.

Pros:
Crib is solid wood and dresser is veneer top
Cons:
Issue with galley rail.
|
|
I purchased the Cabana drop side crip and combo dresser back in May 2007. One year later and I am very happy with the quality and style of the furniture. The dresser is very solid and so is the crib as well. The only issue I had was the company sent me the wrong galley rail. Overall, I'm very pleased

Pros:
solid wood, quality product, beautiful
Cons:
flimsy drawer, unclear assembly instructions
|
|
We bought this bed from albeebaby.com. The product arrived in 2 days! It was very well packaged, but still the drawer bed was slight damaged because it really just thick cardboard. The drawer itself was ikea quality, but the rest is solid hardwood. Assembly took 90 mins, maybe faster if someone helped me. The instructions are unclear on 2 areas:
1. make sure you have the sliding rail in the correct position (which side faces inside vs out) before you install it
2. if you decide to install wheels, only 2 have brakes, so you wanna install them in the front. Once you pop them in, it's almost impossible to take out.Overall we are very happy with the crib. The Colgate classica I mattress fits snugly in this crib.
