Pros: light-weight
Cons: price

So I got the Classica I online in order to save $20 for a $120 mattress. It is exactly what I expected, a very light-weight firm mattress. There're lots of good deals on this mattress online, but because I live in CA, I had to buy the more expensive version of it. It really seems to be a good product though!

Pros: Very firm and easy to lift.
Cons: Hard to find.

I purchased the Colgate Classica I from babycatalog.com for 96.99 + 16 shipping. I was very pleased with the purchase because it was impossible for me to locate this mattress in my local stores. I highly recommend this mattress because it's lightweight, which makes for easy sheet changes. It also fits my crib (Sorelle Rita Bella) very snugly.

Wonderful mattress, pain to find, April 16, 2007

Pros: Light to lift, comfy for baby
Cons: A PAIN to find for California!

I love this mattress, but I'm giving it a 8 because I had such a hard time finding it and the price was almost double what I expected. California has the new flame resistence standards, making the standard Colgate Classica a no-no, so they have a "California" version. After being backordered over 2 months through an online store, I finally went to a specialty boutique 30 miles away and paid full price.

Now, this is not necessarily the fault of the mattress, but a product needs to be accessible to be really "excellent."

Beyond that, it is a very snug fit in our Pali crib, is super light to lift (a must for petite me), and DS has no problems sleeping on it, even without a mattress pad. The product is very well made and is a good mattress. I just don't know if it was worth $130. If I was going to spend that much on a mattress, I could've shelled out another $70 to get the Moonlight Slumber. The higher price was due to the "California version". Due to the info in the book (6th edition), I was was budgeting a total of $70 for a mattress. In any case, this was not as economical of an option than I thought it would be. On the other hand, my #1 priority was to have a light mattress. I knew lifting a mattress by myself would be an issue, so I'm glad to have the Colgate Classica for that reason alone.

Pros: Nice & Firm.... My daughter sleeps well on it.
Cons: nothing

My daughter is 8 months, and we have not regretted getting this mattress. She sleeps fine in it. We were afraid it would be too firm, so we bought a mattress pad for it at BRU. It all works just great.

Pros: Firm but comfortable, waterproof, inside construction
Cons: Heavy, has a tiny hole already

I am unsure the model I have but overall I am pleased with my Colgate Mattress. I have the one with all the fancy stuff inside to reduce allergins ect. DS now almost a year loves his bed. He has been sleeping through the night for months now only when in his bed (may or may not have to do with mattress). He also loves playing in it when he is awake. I like it because it is firm enough to be safe for baby, yet comfortable enough to provide a good nights sleep. It has a waterproof enterior which DS has tested and it stands strong. My only issues are: it is fairly heavy which makes sheet changes a pain. Also, the corner of my mattress recently got a tiny hole in it, not sure if it was my fault or poor contruction though. Overall I find this to be a very good mattress.
