Pros:
Lightweight
Cons:
Hard as a board and uncomfortable for baby. Expensive.
|
|
The foam mattress is lightweight, but the dual sides mattress, which is supposed to have a softer side for toddlers and a firmer side for infants, is rock hard on both sides. Our baby was restless until we put a mattress pad down to cushion the surface. While infants shouldn't be on a too soft surface for SIDS, this mattress was the borderline abusive!

After much research, I settled on this mattress from Colgate Mattress. I paid about 150 from greatbeginnings.com and thought that was a fair value for the mattress. I am so happy that it is lightweight and easy to change. I cover the mattress with a mattress pad and feel it only helps my baby sleep. For what it is worth, I have told a few friends about this mattress and they purchased it as well. I hope this helps. Amy

Pros:
Lightweight, durable, sheets fit snuggly, great price
Cons:
Can't think of anything!

I have two Classica I mattresses and I love them! Changing sheets is a breeze because they are so light and the sheets fit snuggly. I use a waterproof pad over them to make them more comfy and to protect from leaks. Bought them bought around $100 and am very pleased with the product!

I bought my mattress at babycatalog.com for $99. It came with a waterproof mattress pad. Shipping was $16. I am glad that I spent the money on this mattress. It's so easy to change the sheets. It's the only mattress that my daughter has slept on and she sleeps well. I chose this mattress based on online reviews and the Baby Bargains book. I would highly recommend this mattress.

I did a ton of research when buying a crib mattress because of the SIDS recommendations. I decided to get the Colgate Visco-Classica Mattress from Baby Catalog and I paid about $140 for it plus shipping. The Visco-Classica has the firm Classica I foam on one side and a softer memory foam on the other that can be used for a toddler bed. The firm side has a vinyl cover, the softer side has a fabric cover. It is very firm and most adults would probably find it very uncomfortable, but babies to not need a soft bed the way adults do. My baby sleeps better in his crib than he does in his cradle or pack & play and I think the mattress could be the difference. I anicipate that I will get many years of use out of this mattress and couldn't be happier with it.
