I was enchanted with the idea of this item. My husband and I were both colicky infants, so I was worried we would have a colicky one too and thought this might help. We got this instead of a cosleeper. Our daughter wasn't colicky, just very fussy. For the first month, we mostly 'wore' her or put her down in a cradle in the dining room with us during the day. (She would wake up if we tried to put her in this in our bedroom- i think it was also just too quiet and far away from us). After about a month this worked great. We could put her in it and gently bounce her off to sleep if she woke up when we put her down, which of course she usually did. It has a smaller footprint than a cosleeper, and doesn't block getting into your adult bed as much- but then its not as convenient once you're in bed as a cosleeper would be.Downsides- you end up sort of stooping to get the baby in or out, and while you can have it next to your bed and jostle it a bit without getting out of bed, you have to actually get up to get them out of it. (There were times I longed for a cosleeper that I could roll over and pull her in from when she woke to nurse in the middle of the night.)By 6 months she was rolling over A Lot and trying to sit up and I wasn't comfortable having her in it anymore. Our daughter always slept on several different surfaces. (Cradle, our bed, Amby) so we didn't have issues with her only sleeping well in the amby.
