Reader says BRU recalling Simmons changing pad?

I am a mom-to-be in my 30th week of
pregnancy and
recently moved to MA where we
absolutey have no
friends yet. Actually we
don`t have much friends with
child anyways.
Your Baby Bargains book has become a
bible for me. I
always try to chose the best
affordable products and
your book helped me a
lot to sort out the good among
the billion
rest. I wanted to thank you for your
work.
Having said that, I want to ask you
a question: I
heard from Babies R Us that the
Contoured Changing Pad
by Simmons, which has
been highly recommended by
parents, has been
recalled. Do you have any
information on this
particular recall and can you
recommend me any
other changing pad?

response: we have not seen any official word on this recall---BUT, we should
note that BRU often pulls items from shelves prior to an official recall. That's
because the actual government agency that issues recalls (the CPSC) is so backed
up and short-staffed that the official recall can take weeks to officially
announce. If we hear official word, we will announce it here.
